Two publications this month – a review of Bartonella from the European perspective, by collaborators at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and an investigation of the prevalence of Borrelia and Bartonella species found in Ixodes ticks in the US.
First, a European review of Batonella infections, from Parasites & Vectors:Full text link available at Parasites & Vectors.
And secondly, new original research from right here at NCSU, highlighting the tick-borne disease risk right in our backyards. Ixodes affinis collected from North Carolina hadthe highest prevalence for both Borrelia spp. – over 60% of ticks were positive – and B. henselae – 10% of ticks were positive.
